Welcome to Thornhill Secondary School’s 60th Anniversary!
WE ARE CELEBRATING 60 YEARS with pride and fanfare! There’s much to applaud and many reasons to commemorate our longevity.
Your Thornhill Secondary School Alumni Association board of directors along with Thornhill Secondary School and Golden Star Restaurant (Golden Star is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year) have planned outstanding events for May 29 – 31, 2014. I hope you will take the opportunity to join us for these fabulous events. A video about the celebration is currently in production and will be online shortly.
The TSSAA was formed in 2004 after the 50th anniversary celebrations and this year we are celebrating our 10th anniversary of existence! In ten years we have formed a massive alumni (staff and student) database, A Half Century Club – offering Luncheons to alumni who attended Thornhill Secondary School over fifty years ago (this year includes the years of 1954 to 1964 alumni), The Charlie Seath Award given to a grade 11 student at TSS, The TSSAA Next Step Bursary for graduating students, funding for technology at the school that is matched by the school board each year! Having these awards, bursaries and events in place for ten years now is awesome!
On May 29th, 2014 we kick off with an alumni and friends Golf Day at Silver Lakes Golf Course – 12pm Shotgun! Register friends who attended other high schools, past and present neighbours, friends and family online beginning March 31. You can register as a single, a twosome, foursome etc. On Friday May 30th we have an entire day of celebrations planned – order your tickets for this online as well. Current students will be welcomed at TSS at lunch by Golden Star, while alumni who attended Thornhill Secondary School over 50 years ago (1954-1964) will be at The Half Century Club Luncheon held at the Thornhill Golf & Country Club. From 3:30pm to 6:00pm Golden Star will be serving burgers to alumni at Thornhill Secondary School – “Best By Far!” … This is in combination with a fantastic venue the school has put on of guided school tours – the school has changed immensely within the past ten years and the students are setting up decade rooms as well! Don’t miss the Opening Ceremonies and the old “Health’s-A-Poppin’ Show”. **At night, we have a get together planned for alumni to meet and greet at St. Louis in Newmarket and Aurora** For more information please contact Pam (Skinner) Blackert at email@example.com. Saturday May 31st All alumni are invited to The Golden Star in Thornhill from 12pm to 10pm. Golden Star will have music and a full afternoon and evening lined up of entertainment and good times!
As alumni, we have much to be proud of and much to celebrate. Please gather a group of your classmates and make it a point to join us during these celebrations!
